Summer of 2022 saw consultations between University of Edinburgh‘s Andrew Aveyard and Greenbacker’s Andrew Smith on ways which investors might be encouraged to look, or look again, at the marine energy sector.
Scotland, where Greenbackers are based, is blessed with excellent resources (the oceans and seas lapping at our shores), excellent infrastructure for testing and demonstration (the European Marine Energy Centre, Flow Wave) and a supportive policy environment. Add to that an experienced supply chain and there is a recipe for continuing Scotland’s leading position in this sector.
Out of those consultations emerged the concept of a high quality suite of materials that could have a life in forums and conferences that set out a clear message about the sector and what opportunities it presents.
The four films completed and released have been welcomed by the sector, regulators, technology developers and investors.
