TRIREC, a Singapore-based venture capital firm with decarbonisation as its investment mandate, is announcing its partnership with Net Zero Funding specialists Greenbackers Investment Capital, sponsoring its “26 For COP 26” SuperPitch program for Climatech start-ups to be held in conjunction with the UN Climate Summit, COP26, in Glasgow in November. Trirec’s focus is investment in renewable energy and clean technology.
Selected entrepreneurs are featured on Greenbackers’ new digital deal platform “The Greenbackers Showcase”. This pioneering investment platform puts the 26 chosen ventures into a “shop window” for the world’s leading investors to meet, review and determine their suitability for funding. The Showcase culminates in a “SuperPitch” event during COP26 in Glasgow on the 9th of November and live-streamed to a global investor audience with keynote a address from aviation pioneer Bertrand Piccard, Chairman of The Solar Impulse Foundation.
Mike Lim, Partner at TRIREC, commented, “COP26 is not only the largest but arguably also the most important global climate summit to date in our attempt to reverse climate change. At TRIREC, we always believe that everyone has a role to play in climate change. Hence, we are extremely excited to be part of this initiative by Greenbackers to curate and showcase this group of Climatech innovators and entrepreneurs. What taxes and regulation alone cannot do, we believe can be achieved through technology and entrepreneurial spirit. Therefore, TRIREC has been at the forefront of supporting global innovators and entrepreneurs to make a difference in decarbonization by providing them with financing and sharing our connections and expertise.
Melvyn Yeo, Founder and Managing Partner at TRIREC, added that “Climate change is a global effort. Being based in Asia while investing in this space globally has allowed us to bring a uniquely Asian perspective with a global context to the table. We hope to be able to share this with the start-ups and also the participants of this forum in this very important event.”
Robert Hokin, Managing Partner at Greenbackers said,
Our Showcase and COP26 SuperPitch programs are all about action – getting finance to ventures who can really move the needle on climate change – by introducing them to our global community of investors, all which have a mandate to invest in this sector. TRIREC’s mission and commitment, supporting climate ventures with leadership, network and capital is perfectly aligned with our own and we are absolutely delighted to be working with Melvyn, Mike and their team to support investments into next-generation Net-Zero ventures.
