The Greenbackers Climate Investment Showcase, introduced 18 cutting-edge, investment-ready techpreneurs to capital funds in cleantech and climate related sectors.
On 2 July 2025, Greenbackers, in partnership with Sustainable Ventures and proudly sponsored by Ryan and Innovate UK, hosted its bi-annual Climate Investment Showcase in London. The event brought together 18 cutting-edge, investment-ready techpreneurs with capital funds specialising in cleantech and climate-related sectors — creating a powerful platform for connection, insight, and impact. Nearly six months after our January Showcase, the energy and momentum surrounding cleantech innovation remain as vibrant.
A Day of Focused Connections and Real Conversations
The Showcase isn’t just about pitches; it’s about navigating today’s market complexity and finding opportunity amid chaos. With 18 handpicked ventures presenting bold technologies and ambitious visions, matched with a diverse pool of investors ready to make a difference, the day was packed with meaningful dialogue. Over 150 one-on-one speed-dating meetings created a unique environment for focused, noise-free conversations — enabling startups and investors to cut through the clutter and build relationships that matter.
One-on-one Investor Meetings
The day began with more than 150 speed-dating meetings between startups and investors, generously sponsored by Ryan. These curated sessions sparked genuine connections and set the stage for potential deals, providing an unparalleled opportunity to engage directly with high-potential ventures.
A Thought Piece from Mark Hannigan, Greenbackers Partner
Greenbackers Partner Mark Hannigan shares a sharp and insightful perspective on today’s cleantech landscape. In his thought piece, he explores highlights from the speed-dating sessions, examines differing approaches between the U.S. and EU on transition versus expansion, and delves into the promise of dual-use technologies. He also reflects on enduring investment fundamentals, underscores the importance of maintaining runway in the current market, and considers the transformative role AI is playing in shaping the sector’s future.

Panel session “Getting Deals Done in the Midst of Chaos”
Led by Andrew Smith, this dynamic panel brought together leading voices from across the market: Scott Wheeler (OS Impact Investments), Amy Wolff (Ryan), Juliana Garaizar (VC Include & Kauffman Fellow), and Kienan Bruemmer-Gambles (Innovate UK). Together, they explored how to push deals forward in uncertain times – balancing risk with opportunity, identifying emerging trends, and sustaining momentum even in volatile market conditions.
18 Game-Changing Cleantech Pitches
The afternoon spotlighted 18 pioneering ventures driving innovation across renewable energy, sustainable materials, advanced hydrogen solutions, marine technology, and beyond. Each pitch showcased not only groundbreaking technology but also a bold commitment to addressing today’s most urgent climate challenges.
